Taiyuan city, capital of North China's Shanxi province, won the title of "Selected Tourist City in China in 2020" at the Fifth China National Tourism Annual List Awards Ceremony in Beijing on April 21.

The China National Tourism Annual List is a large-scale annual industry selection event launched by China National Tourism magazine.

The selection of outstanding brands and innovative benchmarks in the tourism industry aims to encourage tourism organizations to further enhance brand building and modernization, and provide examples to help advance the development of China's cultural tourism market.

Taiyuan has opened more high-speed rail lines and air routes in recent years and completed the restoration and protection of important relics and historical and cultural blocks.

The city has also increased the supply of high-quality cultural and tourism products and services, a measure that has proven popular among tourists. In 2020, the city's total tourism revenue reached 35.47 billion yuan ($5.47 billion).
