Pingyao scenic areas reopen to visitors

The Ancient City of Pingyao, Shuanglin Temple, and Zhenguo Temple in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province, reopened to visitors on Sept 4 while strictly implementing epidemic prevention and control measures. 

Visitors must make an appointment in advance to enter the scenic areas, and the scenic areas will not accept appointments from provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities that are designated medium and high-risk areas.

The QR code for tourists to make appointments for free entry into the Ancient City of Pingyao took effect that same day, and the QR code for charged tourist attractions within the ancient city is valid for three days. Each charged attraction within the ancient city can be visited only once. 

The daily maximum reception capacity of the ancient city during the pandemic period is 85,202 people. When the carrying capacity is close to peaking, the Ancient City of Pingyao will issue a current limit announcement and stop selling tickets for the day.

All tourists entering the ancient city must verify their itinerary QR code, health code, and proof of vaccination documents. Tourists who are indeed unable to receive the vaccination due to illness or other reasons should present a medical exception certificate.

Foreign tourists need to provide proof of residence in China for more than 28 days, itinerary codes, and health codes. 

The Ancient City of Pingyao is now open to the public from 8 am to 6 pm every day. Visitors can enter and exit the scenic area through gates of Yingxun, Yongding, Fengyi, Gongji, Taihai and Xiaonan.
