Pingyao expands government-university partnerships

A partnership agreement signing and nameplate awards ceremony between Pingyao county's authority and six universities and institutes was held on July 20 in the county in North China's Shanxi province. 

The Pingyao county's government signed a student supply agreement with Northwest A&F University, a tripartite strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Zhejiang University's Cultural Heritage Institute, and Shanxi Ancient Architecture and Colored Sculptures Conservation Research Institute. 

In addition, it signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with School of Civil Engineering at Chongqing University, a scientific research project cooperation agreement with the Taiyuan University of Technology, and two vocational education cooperation agreements with Shanxi Institute of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering and Taiyuan Tourism College.

These institutions will cooperate on the protection of the Ancient City of Pingyao, recruitment and training, scientific research and innovation and extended industries. 

The nameplates of six bases – including the Shanxi Medical University Teaching Hospital Training Base and the Tongji University Quality Student Source Base – were awarded at the ceremony.

The event was widely seen as being an important measure undertaken by Pingyao to implement its talent introduction policy and a new attempt to attract more professionals.

Through the cooperation agreements, Pingyao and the universities will build joint training bases for college students. It will build bases for the transformation of scientific research results of colleges and universities, as well as bases for supplying high-quality students from colleges and universities – giving full play to the advantages of partners to provide talent support for Pingyao's development.

The local authority will offer students internships with board and lodging, monthly living allowances, and accidental injury insurance, in a bid to attract top young talent with its high-quality services.

Furthermore, Pingyao plans to improve its ranking among innovative counties in Shanxi province by building more government-university cooperation demonstration sites, recruiting more top people, establishing a group of innovation platforms and introducing more industrial projects.
