Pingyao officials and representatives of the Austrian-based Mobius Art Foundation met on June 10 to make final preparations for an annual international sculpture festival called the 2020 Sculpture Projects Ping Yao, which will be held in Pingyao county next month.

This year's event, which is to open on July 20 in the Ancient City of Pingyao, is themed on eco-aesthetics. The organizers said it aims to raise the profile of environmental protection and sustainable development, as well as develop and guide the eco-aesthetics senses of the public.

More than 200 works by over 100 sculptors from all over the world will be exhibited online, in a panoramic and immersive way, during the event.

All exhibitions and offline activities will last until the launch of next year's sculpture event.

During this period, the organizers will invite the academic consultants and curators from the previous two festivals to stage online and offline exhibitions and interactive activities with different styles, themes and methods -- based on the traditional cultural resources of the Ancient City of Pingyao.

The organizers said this year's sculpture festival will unveil cultural and creative products and masterpieces of great artistic value.

They said that by establishing a strategic partnership with JD Cloud and taking advantage of JD's online platform and technological support, the sculpture event will promote its brand and intellectual property among people and bridge the gap between the public and the art of sculpture.

First initiated in July 2018, the Sculpture Projects Ping Yao has been held for two years and has attracted hundreds of artists from dozens of countries and regions, becoming one of the most influential international sculpture festivals in China.
