Pingyao tackles fume pollution in the catering industry

To deal with fume pollution in its catering industry, Pingyao's government, in Northern China's Shanxi province, hosted a conference to discuss research related to the issue. The government hopes the conference will help reduce fume emissions, improve air quality and secure public health.

Staffs from the food and drug administration and environmental protection bureau strengthened their regulation and supervision of the industry. The departments urged catering industry workers to bring restaurants up to standard and install fume purification systems by the end of August. Punishments will apply to any restaurant that doesn't comply.
