Tourism campaign, media promote Pingyao

Pianyao of Shanxi province enhanced its local influence by attending a tourism campaign and taking advantage of media publicity, according to a report from China Industrial Economic News on June 12.

Pingyao attended the joint marketing campaign in East China provinces to promote boutique tourism programs of Shanxi with other key tourist attractions from April 16 to 23.

The campaign, themed “Friendly and Beautiful Shanxi,” was launched by the Shanxi Provincial Tourism Bureau.

Pingyao’s promotion focused on local tourism brands, such as the Ancient City of Pingyao, the large indoor drama A Glance at Pingyao, the Pingyao International Photography Exhibition and Pingyao’s Chinese New Year.

The recent publicity of Piaoyao tourism by the magazine China Homes was significant to raise its international reputation and domestic popularity.

A feature about the 2014 Piaoyao Pear Flower Tourism Festival by Shanxi Law Newspaper served as an advertisement to promote the brand image of the festival.
