The project to transfer Yellow River water to central Shanxi province has transitioned from the construction phase to commercial operation, with its main trunk officially supplying water to enterprises starting from April 10.

The Baode Suji Power Plant became the first to receive this water supply.

This provincial key project commenced during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) period. It is a project with the largest investment, longest water transmission route, and widest water supply coverage in Shanxi.

This project is crucial for addressing the contradictions in water supply and demand for industrial and agricultural production, residential use, and ecological needs in the four cities and 16 counties within the Lyuliang mountainous region. It serves as a significant strategic and livelihood project.

With an annual designed water supply capacity of 2.84 million cubic meters, the main trunk of the project has resolved the long-standing issue of water scarcity, resulting in a 5 million yuan ($690,638.3) of annual reduction in water costs.
