The city of Changzhi in North China's Shanxi province launched its first international intermodal freight train on June 21.

The train, loaded with daily necessities and mechanical parts, departed from the Changzhi Land Port Logistics Park in local Zhangzhi county for Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The Changzhi Land Port Logistics Park, which is responsible for express shipment, container shipment and international train launches, is connected to the Zhangzhi South Railway Station of the Watang-Rizhao Railway, as well as to the domestic rail transport network.

The freight train will help increase the city's foreign trade exports, accelerate the industrial transfer of small commodity labor-intensive enterprises in Yiwu, a small commodity hub city in East China's Zhejiang province, to local Zhangzhi county, and promote local high-quality development.

It will also serve as a new channel for the opening-up of southeastern Shanxi to the outside world.
