The ancient city cultural tourism and leisure block in Xinfu district, Xinzhou, North China's Shanxi province, was listed among the first 55 national-level tourism and leisure blocks recently announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The identification of national-level tourism and leisure blocks started in November 2021 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Development and Reform Commission.

The blocks must have distinct cultural elements and regional character, offer tourism, recreation, and cultural experience services, and integrate tourism, catering, entertainment, shopping, accommodation, and recreation, among other things.

Xinzhou Ancient City was a famous city on the China-Russia Tea Road, political and cultural center, and important commodity distribution center in northern Shanxi in ancient times.

In recent years, local authorities have been committed to reproducing the prosperous business, recreation and social life of Xinzhou Ancient City in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

Its designation as an ancient city cultural tourism and leisure block will provide more choices for travel on holidays, and further improve the block's reputation across China.
