Wang Yifan, a boy in his twenties from North China's Shanxi province, won the Short Film Script in English Award for his work The Cracks Between Us from among around 300 contestants at the Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival Screenwriting Competition.

Born in the provincial capital of Taiyuan, Wang is currently studying at the Los Angeles campus of the New York Film Academy. He is flexible when creating literature and has a unique perspective on the situation of contemporary Chinese families.

He created The Cracks Between Us while studying abroad. The entry depicts the trivial daily life of a couple and shows the living conditions and character of ordinary Chinese people.

The Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, hosted by Chinese In Entertainment, is one of the important parts of the Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival.

The competition focuses on exploring high-quality scripts and Chinese-speaking filmmakers and promoting Chinese-language culture. It selects outstanding works, promotes understanding of the Chinese language and contemporary Chinese-speaking cultural communities in North America, and offers a platform to help Chinese-speaking creators tell stories.
