Shanxi province's road transportation network was nearly back to normal as of Oct 11 due to efforts by local transportation authorities.

Due to recent heavy downpours, 6.26 kilometers of highway, 993.1 km of national and provincial-level trunk roads, and 5,022 of rural roads in the province were damaged.

In the cities of Jincheng, Yangquan, Jinzhong, and Yuncheng, some wharfs, ferry ports, and channels were severely damaged.

In response, local transportation authorities dispatched 68,917 emergency response personnel and put 13,453 pieces of machinery into use, rushing to repair and clear 30 blocked sections of highways, 19 sections of national and provincial-level trunk roads, and 2,800 sections of rural roads.

The Shanxi Department of Transportation has dispatched supervisory teams to affected cities to facilitate the investigation of safety risks, fix problems, and ensure the transportation of energy, so as to smooth all damaged roads as soon as possible.
