North China's Shanxi province and Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia held an online signing ceremony for the establishment of friendly relations on Sept 23.

Lan Fo'an, governor of Shanxi and Absattar Syrgabaev, governor of Jalal-Abad region, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides and delivered speeches.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago, China-Kyrgyzstan relations have maintained healthy and stable development.

Thanks to the diplomatic relations, Shanxi and Jalal-Abad region have become increasingly close to each other, with exchanges and cooperation in various fields continuing to progress.

In particular, during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the two regions exchanged condolences, shared experiences and donated materials, which have cemented the friendly relationship between the two sides and contributed to wider sense of a global community acting in concert.

Lan said the two regions had huge potential for cooperation and great prospects, and Shanxi was willing to take the agreement as a new opportunity to deepen bilateral economic, trade and cultural relations, achieve mutual cooperation and development, as well as benefit their peoples.

Governor Syrgabaev thanked Shanxi for its material and technical assistance during the pandemic and said Jalal-Abad region would boost exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese province in the fields of infrastructure, energy, tourism and education – taking their relations to a higher level.
