Fitness equipment made in Changzhi city in North China's Shanxi province again entered the vastness of space aboard the Shenzhou-12 spaceship.

After astronauts enter space and its weightless environment, their bodies will undergo a series of adaptive changes and it's necessary for them to perform daily physical exercises. Therefore, safe, scientific and effective fitness equipment is essential to the Shenzhou XII mission crew, who will work and live in orbit for about three months.

The space exercise bike and space treadmill used by the Shenzhou XII mission crew were developed and manufactured by Shanxi Orient Fitness & Health Industrial Co. The company is based in Changzhi city and developed fitness equipment for the Tiangong I and II missions in 2012 and 2016. 

Compared with exercise equipment for the Tiangong I and II missions, the fitness equipment on the Shenzhou-12 spaceship is more complete and includes space exercise bikes, space treadmills and resistance training devices. 

Astronauts can carry out aerobic exercises and boost their all-round muscle strength with the fitness equipment.
