The Jining-Yuanping High-speed Railway will start from Ulaanqab city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and pass through Datong, Shuozhou and Xinzhou cities in Shanxi province. Once completed, the new line will be about 269.6 kilometers long, with a designed speed limit of 250 km per hour. It will take four years to complete the project, which will require an investment of 33.93 billion yuan ($5.32 billion).

The Shanxi section of the Xiongan-Xinzhou High-speed Railway will stretch 114.72 km and travel through Mount Wutai scenic area, Wutai and Dingxiang counties, and Xinfu district in Xinzhou city.
