Jinzhong city to plug herbal tea at Expo Central China

Jinzhong city in North China's Shanxi province will hold a trade fair on Shanxi herbal tea during the 12th Expo Central China, which is being held in Taiyuan, capital city of the province on May 21-23. 

More than 320 kinds of herbal tea products from 90 producers in Shanxi will be on display in the Shanxi Agricultural Products International Trading Center in Jinzhong, allowing other exhibitors and visitors to get a further understanding of Shanxi's herbal tea on the spot. 

According to Wu Jianlin, director of Jinzhong agriculture and rural affairs bureau, the prefecture-level city has a long track record of developing its herbal tea industry with authentic raw materials. As a result, there are more than 30 authentic traditional Chinese medicinal materials in the city. 

In recent years, the city has taken the herbal tea industry as a new engine for its agricultural transformation and development, providing new support for the revitalization of its rural industries. 

Jinzhong issued a plan which outlined the industry's role in the city's rise in traditional Chinese medicine, as well as established the Jinzhong Herbal Tea Industry Association to boost the sector. 

Currently, traditional Chinese medicinal materials planting bases in the territory administered by the city cover some 166 square kilometers, producing 10,000 metric tons per year. 

There are 13 herbal tea manufacturers which have developed over 40 types of tea products, with annual sales topping 100 million yuan ($15.54 million). 

In addition, the city has promoted its tea culture tourism by exploring local cultural heritage concerning herbal tea.
