A founding ceremony for the new Shanxi Cross-Straits (Gaoping) Industrial Park took place on May 18 in the Gaoping Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Gaoping, a county-level city in North China's Shanxi province. 

The establishment of the industrial park has reportedly marked a new development stage for the construction of Taiwan-backed industrial parks and for attracting investment from Taiwan.

In recent years, the city of Gaoping has made use of the platform being offered by the Cross-Straits Yan Emperor Economic, Trade, Cultural and Tourism Promotion Series. It has leveraged the series to attract investment from Taiwan focusing on the biomedicals industry – as well as to promote suitable projects to settle in the county-level city, with over 10 enterprises from Taiwan starting operations in the Gaoping Economic and Technological Development Zone. 

It is expected that in the next three to five years, the new industrial park will become a hub for modern industry that is dominated by biomedical sector clusters. In addition, it is projected to become an important carrier for Jincheng to attract investment from Taiwan.
