Shanxi province will take advantage of the 12th Expo Central China to fully display its rich history, culture and beautiful landscapes.

This year's expo will be held in Shanxi from May 21 to 23 and feature a high-end cultural and tourism product exhibition at its main venue in the provincial capital of Taiyuan. The exhibition has been inviting companies in culture, tourism, intangible cultural heritage and cultural creativity fields to take part, along with international and resort hotel brands. It will showcase cultural and tourism resources in six provinces in Central China with a special focus on Shanxi.

The four branch venues in Datong, Jinzhong, Lyuliang and Shuozhou cities have prepared cultural tourism activities that highlight local characteristics and follow the theme of "visiting Shanxi and reading history." The aim is to invite more people to visit Shanxi.

During the three-day expo, the Datong branch will hold cultural performances and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions at the city's Yungang Grottoes to showcase the historical splendor and relics of Datong and promote its cultural tourism resources to tourists.

The Jinzhong branch will hold a special fair for intangible cultural heritage commodities, focusing on displaying products such as polished paint, glassware, colored glaze and black pottery with Jinzhong characteristics. Local scenic spots showcasing Shanxi's merchants-themed cultural experience tour have carried out preparations to host an influx of guests.

Lyuliang city has prepared a forum on its liquor culture as well as fairs for famous Lyuliang specialties and cultural and tourism products in Qikou Ancient Town. The city has also selected three liquor-themed tour routes for guests and visitors to the expo, highlighting the city's image as an ideal liquor-culture tourism destination.

The Shuozhou branch venue will host cultural and tourism activities featuring local culture, including visits to Shuozhou's eight famous scenic spots and a gala themed around ceramics and the Yingxian Wooden Sakyamuni Pagoda. Shuozhou will also conduct cultural tourism promotions to encourage expo participants to visit major tourist attractions in the city.
