The Shanxi Provincial Healthcare Security Center recently launched the "Internet + Medical Insurance" online follow-up medical insurance service platform at the Shanxi Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital in Shanxi province.

The mobile service platform in its trial phase is for outpatients who suffer from major diseases.

It will significantly simplify the follow-up medical treatment of severe diseases for patients: They will no longer need to travel to the hospital and wait in line to receive follow-up medical attention.

In the future, the whole follow-up treatment process will be handled through the platform on mobile phones. The online system will be available to patients who suffer from serious illnesses and have provincial medical insurance and Taiyuan medical insurance.

Required medicines can be delivered directly to patients' homes by drug delivery companies after being purchased through the platform.

The expenses incurred during the online follow-up visits will be included in the medical insurance funds' scope of payment. Patients who opt for treatment via the mobile service platform will enjoy the same medical insurance benefits as those who use offline follow-up medical services.
