Tanghuoshao, or the sweet baked wheaten cake in Linxian county administered by Lyuliang city in North China's Shanxi province is pressed into a special wooden mold and baked on the stove. The center of the snack protrudes upwards and there is a big bright red seal. The outer periphery has a double circular edge, which tastes crisp and sweet. Enthusiasts say it has become a popular snack with locals. They take the cakes when visiting relatives and friends -- or bring them as gifts on festive and happy days, especially at marriages, children's birthdays and celebrations marking the first month of babies.
