Shanxi Health Commission confirmed eight more novel coronavirus cases as of Feb 3, with the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Shanxi province reaching 74.

The provincial health authority said the newly confirmed cases consisted of four in Jinzhong city, three in Yuncheng city and one in Jincheng city.

In addition, 21 more suspected cases were reported the same day, with the total number of suspected cases totaling 62, as of Feb 3.

At present, 67 patients are in a stable condition, five are in intensive care and two has recovered and been discharged from hospital, according to the commission.

A total of 2,212 people who have had close contact with confirmed infected patients have been traced and 1,602 of them are now under medical observation.
