Shanxi maintains steady economic growth in Jan-Nov

The economy of Shanxi province maintained stable growth from January to November, according to the Shanxi Statistics Bureau on Dec 19.

During the period, the added value of industries above a designated size increased 5.5 percent, of which the non-coal industry increased 6.4 percent with its contribution rate to the total industrial growth reaching 57.1 percent.

The added value of the equipment manufacturing industry in the province grew 8.8 percent, 0.3 percentage points faster than that in January-October.

Total retail sales of consumer goods in the province reached 718.09 billion yuan ($102.4 billion) in the 11 months, representing an increase of 7.7 percent. 

Online consumption has grown rapidly with online retail sales of consumer goods amounting to 5.44 billion yuan in the period, an increase of 24.1 percent. The province's consumer prices rose by 2.6 percent. 

The tourism industry maintained rapid growth. The province's total tourism revenue from January to November was 770.2 billion yuan, an increase of 19.5 percent. 

The number of overnight overseas visitors to the province was 720,000, an increase of 6.8 percent and 80.041 million domestic tourists visited Shanxi, up 18.7 percent. 

Looking at the public budget, the province's general public budget revenue and expenditure during the period reached 220.03 billion yuan and 414.39 billion yuan respectively, up 4.3 percent and 11.9 percent. 

The province's investment in fixed assets increased 8.4 percent, of which investment in the tertiary industry grew 11.6 percent. Investment in infrastructure and real estate development also increased, with  infrastructure investment up 14.9 percent and real estate development investment up 20.1 percent.

In addition, 528,000 more people in Shanxi got jobs in the past 11 months, an increase of 0.4 million people year-on-year.
