Wei Chunhui, general manager of the Shanxi branch of China Mobile Communications Group, said that in the next five years his group would expand 5G network construction in Shanxi.

He said it would promote the integration of 5G and the big data and cloud computing sectors, as well as sign strategic cooperation agreements with provincial and city-level governments, leading companies and major universities to advance the industrial upgrading in Shanxi.

The application of 5G technology will provide better infrastructure for the internet of things and China Telecom has established a special IoT company to expand coverage of IoT applications in Shanxi, according to Jin Jianyong, from the Shanxi branch of China Telecom.

Power transformation and operating costs are worthy of attention in 5G infrastructure construction, said Xu Bo, general manager of the Shanxi branch of China Tower Co, which has done a lot to reduce electricity costs of 5G base stations in the province.
