A 4-meter-tall bronze statue of Guan Yu, a famous general in the late Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25-220), was erected in the Jinfei Economic Trade and Cooperation Zone in Mauritius on June 10.
Born in Yuncheng in North China's Shanxi province, Guan Yu is regarded as a symbol of loyalty, courage, righteousness and wealth.
The erection of the statue in Jinfei Economic Trade and Cooperation Zone aims to promote the story and the spirit of the Chinese general.
Jinfei Economic Trade and Cooperation Zone, Shanxi's first overseas special economic zone, has so far attracted dozens of companies -- with the proportion of international companies exceeding 80 percent.
Its intelligent operations and management system, based on big data and internet of things technologies, has been serving communications well between China and Mauritius for years.
