8th Pingyao International Film Festival opens submission channels

The eighth Pingyao International Film Festival is set to take place from Sept 24 to 30, in the ancient city of Pingyao, Jinzhong city, Shanxi province.

Starting today, the eighth Pingyao International Film Festival is officially accepting film submissions worldwide, with the submission deadline extended to July 15. Filmmakers can register their films online through the official website of the Pingyao International Film Festival.

Selected films, chosen by the festival's artistic director and program planning team, will have the opportunity to be featured in the official screening section of the film festival. In the "Hidden Dragons" section, dedicated to discovering new Chinese directors, one outstanding film will receive a cash prize of 1 million yuan ($138,557), and a talented director will be awarded 200,000 yuan. Films submitted to the "Hidden Dragons" section must be Asian premieres at minimum.

The Pingyao International Film Festival encompasses four major sections: screening, industry, academic, and education. The screening section includes focus on new international directors in the "Crouching Tigers" section, discovery of new Chinese directors in the "Hidden Dragons" section, screening of significant commercial films, notable works, masterpieces, or selected outstanding films from major film festivals in the "Galas" section, the promotion of Shanxi film industry development in the "Made-in-Shanxi" section, and the "Retrospective/Tribute" section showcasing historically significant films with unique perspectives and academic value.
