PYIFF unveils new programming team in Berlin

The Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF) from Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province recently held a filmmaker party at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

PYIFF's artistic director, Lin Xudong, and his programming team made a prominent appearance in front of fellow filmmakers at the party. This was PYIFF's first overseas promotional event since 2020. 

At the party, several Chinese film directors, program planners from several international film festivals, numerous international distribution companies, and dozens of domestic and foreign media reporters gathered to interact with young filmmakers.

With over 20 years of experience in film programming, veteran programmers Naoki Kamiya and Junko Fukatsu from Japan will serve as foreign language film programmers for this year's PYIFF. They will work alongside Chinese program planner Wu Jueren and short film program planner Song Jia to select outstanding films for the festival.

Jia Zhangke, filmmaker and founder of PYIFF, said, "I believe that the new programming team will work together to uphold the festival's film selection philosophy, bringing more excellent international films to Pingyao."
