Study tour business springs up in Pingyao

Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province has been building a high-standard center for study trips and diverse study programs and enhancing the educational function of cultural tourism resources based on local cultural venues and intangible cultural heritage sites for years. 

Recently, more than 30 teachers and students from Beijing participated in the study and practical education activities at the Rishengchang Exchange Shop Museum, where they learned about the culture of exchange shops and experienced the essence of Shanxi merchants' culture. 

The rich local historical and cultural resources have provided a broad development space for study activities in Pingyao. 

In 2017, the Ancient City of Pingyao was named one of the national study and practical education bases for primary and middle school students by the Ministry of Education. In 2020, Pingyao Ancient City Scenic Area Management Co integrated existing resources, developed study programs, and formulated scientifically standardized study tour curricula, creating a comprehensive study and teaching service system covering the Ancient City of Pingyao. 

Li Yaping, the person in charge of the study tour business at the company, said that the company has developed nearly 20 study tour courses in six sections and more than 20 study tour routes according to the characteristics of students at different stages, allowing students to understand the ancient city and traditional Chinese culture. 

Since June of this year, the company has hosted more than 30 study groups, with over 2,000 students participating.
