Liangjiatan village, a famous historical and cultural village in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province, has been revitalized due to successful local efforts in cultural protection and development in recent years.

Located 15 kilometers southeast of the county seat, Liangjiatan was formed in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and is home to quite a few ancient ruins, including Baiyun Temple, which is under national protection, and 40,000 square meters of traditional buildings.

In 2019, Liangjiatan was included in the list of Chinese traditional villages.

Effective protection measures have been taken to explore local history and culture and to ensure the sustainable protection and utilization of ancient buildings and cultural relics.

Li Deqian, the village's top official, set up a leading group for the protection of the ancient village, carried out infrastructure construction, improved the local environment, and carried out thorough investigation and categorical protection of ancient buildings in the village.

In the future, Liangjiatan will further strengthen the protection efforts, develop rural tourism, and upgrade local industries.

Li added that Liangjiatan will build an ancient castle street and ancient courtyards with local cultural features, repair the Guandi Temple, develop a farmhouse restaurant, plant more than 100 acres of medicinal and ornamental forests around Baiyun Temple, and establish a tofu workshop.
