Pingyao ranks among China's top 10 scenic areas

The Ancient City of Pingyao in North China's Shanxi province ranked fifth in the list of China's top 100 5A-rated brand tourist attractions in October recently released by commercial property information provider Meadin.

The scenic area has ranked among the top 10 in the monthly list for four consecutive months.

The list aims to reflect the influence of scenic spots through data and formulate plans for them to bolster brand development.

Recently, Shanxi proposed 10 measures to develop the Ancient City of Pingyao into an internationally-renowned tourist destination. 

The measures include building the Pingyao Intangible Cultural Heritage Digital Exhibition Hall, increasing the supply of local cultural tourism products, establishing a cultural intellectual property system in the ancient city, and promoting Shanxi merchant culture.
