Demo zone for GI product to be built in Pingyao

The Demonstration Zone for the Protection of Pingyao Beef National Geographical Indication (GI) Product was recently approved for construction in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province, by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

The national geographical indication product protection demonstration zone is a protected area for geographical indication items recognized by the administration, where the items have a large industrial scale, significant social and economic benefits and strong management. 

The Demonstration Zone for the Protection of Pingyao Beef National Geographical Indication Product was the only of its kind to be approved in Shanxi this year. 

According to Jinzhong city's market regulation bureau, Pingyao beef was approved for the protection of geographical indication products of origin in December 2003, and later in December 2005 the geographical indication trademark of Pingyao Beef was registered. 

The approval will play an important role in further enhancing the brand value of Pingyao beef and expanding its market influence. 

Next, authorities in Pingyao county will promote the construction of an intellectual property protection system for Pingyao beef, boost the Pingyao beef brand, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the Pingyao beef industry.
