To strictly prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic through the post, Pingyao county – located in North China's Shanxi province – has built three general warehouses for novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and for the sterilization of express mail entering the region.

Pingyao started construction of the warehouses for YTO Express, Best logistics and China Post on April 14 and finished them on April 25. They will start operating after being examined and approved by provincial and municipal authorities.

In the future, after sterilization and nucleic acid testing, all mail and express items entering Pingyao will be stored in the warehouses for at least seven days before delivery.

The local authority stated that this would minimize the risk of virus transmission through logistics and express deliveries, as well as promote the rapid resumption of express delivery operations.

Zhang Lingyun, a member of the comprehensive administrative law enforcement team of the Pingyao transportation bureau, said the county would strengthen its day-to-day regulation and further improve epidemic prevention and control measures.

It would also improve its emergency quick response mechanism and maintain the normal operational order of the general warehouses, so as to ensure the safety of the people in the county.
