Chinese New Year celebrations begin in Pingyao

The 2022 Pingyao Chinese New Year, a major annual event celebrating the traditional Spring Festival in Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province, started on Jan 31.

More than 20 folk activities related to the Han ethnic group's culture in northern China and traditional Chinese New Year celebrations will be underway in the UNESCO World Heritage Site until Feb 16. 

The event aims to protect, pass down and showcase traditional Chinese culture through online and offline activities.
