The construction of a tourist avenue in the Pingyao Ancient City Eco-tourism Cultural Industrial Park is progressing smoothly in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province.
The avenue is set to be a pivotal road connecting the local Ancient City of Pingyao and Tianlu Lake.
The 4.87-kilometer-long road consists of two flyovers and has cost a total of 766.13 million yuan ($120.23 million). The whole project includes the road, bridges, lighting facilities, construction and greening.
The north-to-south flyovers are 32 meters wide and both have three lanes running in both directions. They're expected to open to traffic in October 2022.
Wang Yonghui, manager of the construction project, said that once the road opens, it will greatly facilitate travel in the surrounding area, boost the development of Pingyao Ancient City Eco-tourism Cultural Industrial Park and local tourism, and stimulate Pingyao's economic growth.
