More think tank cooperation bodies introduced to Pingyao

Two think tank cooperation institutes – the Shanxi Historical Heritage Digital Platform and the Ruan Yisan Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance Research Center (Pingyao) – were recently established in Pingyao county.

The Shanxi Historical Heritage Digital Platform was co-constructed by a team led by Wu Zhiqiang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Shanxi Research Institute of the China Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy.

The platform makes use of big data technology for intelligent exploration, information sorting, deep learning, network communication, and the smart management of historical heritage, builds a digital platform for the development of Shanxi cultural heritage, and promotes the digital and smart protection of Shanxi's historical heritage and the development of the province's cultural industry. 

Under the partnership between Pingyao and Tongji University in Shanghai, the Ruan Yisan Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance Research Center (Pingyao) aims to assess the protection and development of Pingyao as a world heritage city, advance Pingyao's innovation in the protection and development of world cultural heritage, and gradually formulate a Chinese plan for the protection and development of world heritage by taking advantage of the university's experts and rich experiences in cultural heritage protection. 

Ruan Yisan, historic preservationist and professor of architecture at Tongji University, commended the establishment of the platform and the center via video. 

He said that the new establishments can better enhance the exploration of cultural heritage protection and the training of talent, and continue to promote the development of various cultural undertakings, including the protection and activation of cultural heritage.

In recent years, Pingyao has been attaching heavy importance to county-university cooperation. The county has carried out in-depth exchange and cooperation with universities and institutes such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Tongji University, and Taiyuan University of Technology, establishing cooperation platforms for talent, projects, and industries.

So far, it has established partnerships with 11 domestic universities, founded 12 co-built institutes, and constructed 14 joint ventures, which has provided strong intellectual support for local high-quality development.
