Pingyao film festival to encourage TV drama producers

The 5th Pingyao International Film Festival – which is to be held in October in the Ancient City of Pingyao in North China's Shanxi province – recently added a Chinese-language drama program for the first time.

The initiative aims to discover potential Chinese drama projects and new creative talent, as well as to promote the creative integration of film and TV drama. 

It also aims to provide new creative energy in terms of industry communications, resource interactions and finance platforms, as well as offer incubation opportunities to excellent TV drama series. 

The festival organizing committee plans to develop a communication channel between drama series creators, top domestic broadcasting platforms and drama series production companies. 

The finalist teams will be invited to participate in a series of official activities at the film festival. They will get the opportunity to stage presentations and have one-on-one discussions with the judges and industry insiders.

Currently, the initiative has started collecting Chinese-language drama series projects that are at the stage of script development. 

Each entry should be a series with six to 12 episodes and each episode running at least 30 minutes, as well as having the potential to be screened on satellite TV channels or on online streaming media platforms.
