Highway project breaks ground in Pingyao

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a section of National Highway No 241 took place in Pingyao county on March 12. 

The road section extends 51.03 kilometers, starting at the bridgehead of the Ciyao River at the junction of Pingyao county and Fenyang county-level city and ending to the east of Hougou village in Qinyuan. 

The project involves the construction of the roadbed earthwork, protective fences, drainage pipes and tunnels, bridges, culverts, overpasses, flyovers, toll stations, service areas, maintenance work areas and parking areas. 

Construction is scheduled to start in March 2021. The highway will be completed and opened to traffic before the end of October 2022. 

Wei Jiangfeng, the acting head of Pingyao county, addressed the ceremony and said that the project is an important part of Pingyao's improvement of the urban environment. It should also promote the high-quality socioeconomic development of Pingyao.
