River treatment project kicks off in Pingyao

An environmental treatment project in the Pingyao section of the 100-kilometer middle reaches of the Fenhe River Demonstration Zone kicked off on Dec 11 in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province. 

It will extend 24.3 km and involve the reconstruction of dikes, treatment of floodplains and channels, as well as landscape greening.

After two years of construction, the project will provide a water conservation corridor, ecological corridor, as well as a cultural and tourism corridor for Pingyao. It will promote the high-quality and sustainable development of the county.
