Pingyao founds lacquerware art society

The Pingyao Society of Polished Lacquerware Art was founded on Sept 24 in Pingyao county. 

Its establishment aimed to further explore the traditional process of making polished lacquerware, improve related industrial chains and boost the development of the handicraft as intangible cultural heritage.

The society's standing director, president, vice president and secretary-general were elected at the founding ceremony, which also saw the appointment of an honorary president and an art advisor.

Lectures on the lacquerware process and innovation were also delivered at a themed forum that took place alongside the ceremony.
