A meeting about Pingyao polished lacquerware products was held in Pingyao county in North China on Sept 1.

Representatives of over 20 cultural and creative enterprises from all over China held business talks with insiders of the Pingyao polished lacquerware sector, after they had visited the facilities at a local company, an industrial park and a research institute in the county.

Representatives of Beijing arts and crafts and cultural and creative enterprises -- such as Beijing Sino-Foreign Enamel Gallery and Beijing Gongmei Jewelry Art Co -- signed project agreements with polished lacquerware companies in Pingyao at the event.

Officials said the parties will carry out further cooperation in the innovation of intangible cultural heritage and jointly develop new arts and crafts and cultural and creative products, by integrating the techniques of polished lacquerware making with traditional aesthetics.

Zhao Lingzhong, a government official of Pingyao county, said the meeting established a platform for future exchanges and cooperation between local lacquerware manufacturers and cultural and creative enterprises across the country.

Zhao said it would help improve the industrial supply chain of Pingyao lacquerware research, production and sales.

In recent years, Pingyao has made lots of efforts to promote traditional culture and make Pingyao polished lacquerware known throughout the world.

Officials said it has released new standards for Pingyao polished lacquerware techniques, formed professional and talent training programs supported by master studios -- as well as introduced vocational education and advanced technical innovations.

The meeting also marked the beginning of a series of promotional events for the so-called Three Treasures of Shanxi -- polished lacquerware, Fahua ware and Chengni ink slabs.
