Pingyao ranks among top 100 tourism counties

Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province was recently listed as being among the country's top 100 counties in terms of the strength of its tourism sector in 2020, in a survey released by the National County-level Tourism Research Team and the Beijing Huaxia Baiqiang Tourism Consulting Center.

The survey referred to 35 indicators in the six areas of tourism economy development levels, government promotion, tourism's contribution to general socioeconomic development, tourism development and environmental protection, tourism facilities and services, tourism quality supervision and market regulation.

According to the 2020 report on county-level tourism, the top 100 counties with comprehensive tourism strength achieved tourism revenue of 22.66 billion yuan ($3.31 billion) on average and received 20.39 million visitors in 2019, representing year-on-year growth of 18.06 percent and 6.16 percent respectively.
