Centralized medical observation site operates in Pingyao

To further strengthen the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, Pingyao Fenhewan Hotel has been officially put into operation as Pingyao county's first centralized medical observation site for close contacts of confirmed patients, local officials said.

There are a total of 76 rooms in the medical observation site, they added.

Each close contact of confirmed patients has his or her own isolated room with a separate toilet and independent air conditioning, to avoid cross infection. Young children need to be accompanied by a parent. 

The centralized isolation of close contacts is better than home isolation in effects, said Pei Xuliang, deputy director of the Pingyao health and sports bureau. 

At present, confirmed cases in Pingyao county are treated in hospitals in Jinzhong city. Suspected cases are observed and diagnosed in the Pingyao People's Hospital.

Close contacts of confirmed patients are now to be concentrated in the medical observation site.

Pingyao county has so far confirmed 32 novel coronavirus pneumonia cases.
