Tangshan Port builds land port in Pingyao county

Tangshan Port, one of the 10 biggest seaports in China in northern Hebei province, founded Pingyao Fengyan Group Land Port in Pingyao county in northern Shanxi province on Dec 27, according to local officials.

Tangshan Port -- located in the core area of the Bohai Economic Rim in northeastern China -- is a large State-owned international sea port that integrates logistics, cargo loading and unloading and containers.

Officials said it has been recognized as a national demonstration port for multimodal container transportation.

They said the newly established Pingyao Fengyan Group Land Port supported by Tangshan Port will integrate inland cargo resources and port transportation, as well as build a new channel for green and environmentally friendly container transportation between Pingyao county and Tangshan Port.

The land port will reduce reloading in coal and coke transportation. It will cut down on cargo damage and avoid empty-loaded train transportation -- to attract more coal, coking and alumina-related companies in Jinzhong city and surrounding areas.

It is expected that the land port will facilitate the development of Pingyao's foreign trade sector, further enhance local economic development and influence, as well as give full play to the role of Pingyao in east-west transport.
