Pingyao advances foundry industry upgrade

Pingyao county in northern Shanxi province held a meeting on Nov 15 about expanding the operations of the Pingyao New Metal Materials Academician Workstation, according to local officials. 

Established by Pingyao county government and the work team of Ding Wenjiang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in September last year, the workstation has already contributed a great deal to the transformation and upgrade of the foundry industry in the county, officials added. 

Shi Yong, head of Pingyao county, emphasized that the academician workstation is an important measure for revitalizing and upgrading traditional industries in Pingyao. 

He called for academician workstations to formulate detailed and specific work plans for business matchmaking, training and technical services according to the actual situation in local enterprises. 

He further called for improvements to the work efficiency of workstations – for them to help companies solve problems, train core technical personnel and promote the long-term development of local foundry industry.
