Puming Temple, a structure from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) located in Xiangyuan town in Pingyao county, has recently been included on a list of national key cultural relics sites under protection, according to officials.
The temple has four halls with well-preserved murals from the Ming Dynasty and is typical of the dynasty's buildings in the eastern part of Pingyao county.
To date, Pingyao has 20 cultural relics sites registered under national protection, including the newly added temple.
Now, the local culture and tourism government departments will further improve the protection and sustainable development of the temple, officials said.
