Pingyao to build financial complex project

Pingyao county in Shanxi province and the America-China Investment Promotion Association, based in the US city of Los Angeles, carried out project matchmaking and negotiations on Nov 4, according to local officials. 

The two sides discussed the Belt and Road World Finance Summit and the "Oriental Wall Street" culture and tourism complex project. It will be introduced by the Shanxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Association and be funded, managed and operated by the America-China Investment Promotion Association. 

The project mainly consists of three parts. One is a permanent site for the Belt and Road World Finance Summit, namely the Pingyao International Financial Conference Center. 

Another part is a Star Hotel featuring Chinese and Western culture and the characteristics of Pingyao. 

Finally, there will be an "Oriental Wall Street" historical style scenic area. This will include a museum on Chinese ancient exchange shops, a museum about Chinese trading groups and a museum of famous Chinese trade figures – as well as an immersive virtual digital cinema.

Shi Yong, head of Pingyao county, said at the meeting that Pingyao was once the Chinese financial center in late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and its financial culture, one of the core sectors of Pingyao's culture, needed to be further promoted and developed. 

The new culture and tourism complex project is in line with Pingyao's current needs and long-term development. 

Shi said he hoped that both sides will further investigate and research, as well as optimize the design plans, strengthen communications and explore multi-party cooperation -- to ensure that the project will be completed and start operations as soon as possible.
