Shanxi county-level farmers' federation founded in Pingyao

The Pingyao Federation of Farmers' Cooperative Economic Organizations was founded in Pingyao county on Oct 30 -- becoming the first county-level federation of farmers' cooperative economic organizations in Shanxi province, according to local officials. 

They said the launch of the federation was a move to further comprehensive reforms of supply and marketing cooperatives in Pingyao county, and to offer a services platform and mechanism for modern agriculture development. 

Deng Jijie, deputy head of Pingyao county, said he hoped the federation would develop various types of farmers' cooperative economic organizations. 

He also wanted it to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of cooperative economic organizations and farmers based, on actual conditions for agricultural development in rural areas.
