A seminar on inquiry-based learning curriculum -- and the second national primary and middle school student inquiry-based learning camp -- was held in Pingyao county on Oct 26, according to local officials.
The event, sponsored by the National Center for Education Development Research, attracted a wide range of participants. They included more than 130 government department officials, people from 40 inquiry-based learning camps across China and representatives of the protection and management committee of the Ancient City of Pingyao.
Primary and middle school student inquiry-based learning practice education bases refer to places for primary and middle school students to visit and study.
They include various natural and cultural heritage sites, museums, exhibition halls, large public facilities, industrial and mining enterprises, well-known universities and institutions, as well as research institutes.
Yan Fengqin, deputy head of Pingyao county, said at the event that as a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- and a national inquiry-based learning practice base for primary and middle school students -- the Ancient City of Pingyao had been taking the responsibility seriously for passing down its culture, which set a sound foundation for its future development and promoting its profile around the world.
