Pingyao government officials met leaders of China Satellite Navigation and Communications Co on Oct 22 -- to facilitate business matchmaking for an important transportation service.
Officials said the project concerns what is known as a non-truck operating common carrier project -- where a freight company does not own or operate the trucks it uses. This allows it to select the most suitable carrier for customers and where no direct carriers are available, it determines the best shipment alternative, all on a single source bill of lading.
Shi Yong, head of Pingyao county, said that the non-truck operating common carrier service would be located in the Pingyao Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Once there, it would further ensure transportation safety, resolve problems in transportation operations and promote the intensive and efficient development of the county's road freight industry -- setting a good example for similar projects in Shanxi province.
Shi said he hoped both parties would seize the opportunity to speed up the service's implementation and develop a data platform to ensure a smooth rollout and operation of the project.
China Satellite Navigation and Communications Co is a high-tech company running an intelligent networking technology service for commercial vehicles.
Based on its core technologies -- in big data acquisition, analysis and processing, networking intelligent sensor development and design, automatic driving and AI -- the company said it was committed to the intensive, intelligent and digital upgrading of the logistics industry.
