International film festival promotes Shanxi's resources

Jinzhong city and Anze county in Linfen city pushed themselves at the Made-in-Shanxi industrial promotional event at the 3rd Pingyao International Film Festival in Pingyao county on Oct 17.

Made-in-Shanxi is a permanent program section of the annual film festival. Films made by Shanxi-born filmmakers or made by Shanxi film and television companies, set in and around or shot in Shanxi can be selected in the program. 

This time, a total of nine films were screened in the Made-in-Shanxi section.

The program aims to discover more talented Shanxi filmmakers, promote Shanxi creations, as well as its preferential policies and rich film resources to the world through screening and promotion events. 

In addition, the film festival will choose one city and one county in Shanxi to promote each year. This year's festival promoted Jinzhong city and Anze county's cultural relics sites, the natural landscape, folk customs and film resources.

"The Made-in-Shanxi section is not only one of the important windows for promoting Shanxi movies, but it is also one of the ways for Shanxi culture to spread to the outside world and is an important measure for Shanxi to develop its cultural tourism industry," said Zhang Yu, deputy director of the Shanxi Provincial Publicity Department.

In the future, Shanxi will welcome more filmmakers to communicate in the province in a more open manner. More film crews are welcome to come to Shanxi for their shooting, Zhang added.
