Chinese painting exhibition held in Pingyao

The 13th Shanxi Flower and Bird Gongbi Artwork Exhibition opened at the Pingyao Modern Engineering Technical School in Pingyao county on Sept 20. 

The exhibition is sponsored by the Shanxi Artists Association and the Shanxi Gongbi Society. 

"Gongbi" is a type of Chinese painting that requires meticulous brush strokes that delimit details very precisely without independent or expressive variation. The works are often highly colorful and usually depict figural or narrative subjects. 

More than 150 Chinese gongbi brushworks are currently on display at the exhibition, which will run until Oct 8.
