Pingyao releases featured tour routes

Pingyao county recently released a list of 11 featured traveling routes and 30 tourist leisure attractions – to provide more diverse travel options for visitors from all over the world. 

According to Li Jian, director of the Pingyao culture and tourism bureau, the  featured traveling routes integrate cultural and tourism elements – including ancient city study tours, tours of lacquer art villages, a health care experience tour, a forest tour, pastoral leisure tour and an intangible cultural heritage experience tour -- with length of tours ranging from a half day to two days. 

The 30 featured tourist attractions include the Ancient City of Pingyao, Shuanglin Temple and the Zhenuo Temple. 

The drive routes and tourist attractions provide diverse choices for hiking and cycling enthusiasts, as well as for tourist groups, local officials said. 

They added that the new initiative will help Pingyao further promote its development into an international tourist city, along with a series of annual global events such as the Pingyao International Photography Festival and Pingyao International Film Festival.
